Description

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Development is responsible for all donor fundraising and development activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for building new ties in the community and increasing donations from individuals and area businesses that are already contributors.

This position holds primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the campaigns needed to support existing budget and grow new revenue streams. Additionally, they will be responsible for individual and group campaigns through events designed primarily to increase awareness of FCWFS and its activities.

The Director will expand and diversify the Shelter’s donor base and work closely with the Board and the Fundraising Committee to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the Director will work closely with the Board, while motivating and exciting Board Members as they take on a more active fundraising role.



Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Support and partner with the ED and board members on all major fundraising initiatives
  • Collaborate with the ED and Treasurer to develop and implement the FCWFS financial strategy
  • Actively work with the ED and Fundraising Committee to develop and implement a comprehensive and detailed development strategy
  • Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all local fundraising activities.
  • Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and ED
  • Create and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
  • Report regularly on the progress of the development program
  • Recruit and train volunteers on the development team
  • Increase social media presence, posting 4-5 times a week to both Facebook and Instagram using graphic design skills to create interesting and engaging posts
  • Navigate a new CRM with staff and board members

Qualifications:

  • 5-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
  • A track record of expanding existing donor relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to engage with a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills combined with exceptional attention to detail
  • A leader, both bold and friendly, who can create successful strategic and tactical fundraising programs
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with other team members
  • Capable of designing and implementing annual strategic development plans
  • Ability to produce forward facing media including but not limited to social media, newspaper articles, and potentially a monthly newsletter
