ON-SITE ROLE BASED IN COLORADO SPRINGS with occasional hybrid schedule and travel throughout the region.The Sales Director is a key revenue leadership position and is responsible for planning and implementing sales and marketing strategies, both short and long range by building and leading high-performance teams who are dedicated to providing comprehensive media solutions including Print, Digital, Event, Data-Based Marketing and special product sales to existing and new markets.
This position will also work with the leadership team in identifying new strategic opportunities and developing comprehensive business plans that bring approved opportunities to market that improves our client value position while enhancing the Gazette's market penetration, brand and market value.
Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000/year plus commission opportunities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set the example of excellence for the sales team in everyday work by constantly improving personal expertise and knowledge, setting clear expectations, providing effective feedback, and maximizing time with staff and customers.
- Lead sales executives to consistent achievement of revenue goals, and through all facets of the sales cycle including prospecting, customer assessment, analysis, strategies, best practices, ROI modeling, key industry research rollout, competitive intelligence, marketing/sales proposals and alignment to existing solutions.
- Work with the senior leadership in identifying new strategic opportunities and developing comprehensive business plans that bring opportunities to market that improves our client value position while enhancing the Gazette's market penetration, brand and market value.
- Create new and profitable Gazette sponsored community events that increase our brand awareness while servicing client and attendee needs.
- Work with marketing team to drive strategies in line with increasing our brand awareness and value in the market.
- Work with finance and the sales team to analyze trends in key revenue categories and performance by rep and teams.
- Meet with key clients, assisting sales reps with maintaining relationships and closing deals.
- Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion and conducts regular meetings with digital, national and keys team to discuss.
- Develop and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
- Direct market channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas and goals.
- Enhance our brand by establishing a community leadership presence.
- Work with all departments to develop a "best in class" organization and an employer of choice status.
- Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Key player in hiring process for team members with a constant vigil for continuous improvement.
- Work with senior leadership on annual budget process to include revenue and expenses.
- Allow and promote active interdepartmental teamwork and participation in special project teams.
- Maintain contemporaneous client files via CRM and manual files.

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
Education: Minimum of Associate's Degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
Experience: 6-8 years of successful sales and management experience, including media sales. Extensive experience managing, training and coaching salespeople. 3 - 5 years' experience in business development role focused on monetization in print and digital space.

- Knowledge of entire newspaper operations and capabilities while expanding service offerings through either internal capabilities or third-party relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, listening and teamwork skills and effective presentation skills.
- Ability to supervise and coach sales staff to meet and exceed goals.
- Possess leadership skills that inspire others to achieve their goals.
- Able to react to change productively.
- Able to take direction and coaching constructively from supervisor.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; intermediate level computer skills required.
- Must read, write, speak and understand English.
- Timely attendance during a regular and predictable schedule is required. Certain critical times of the workday exist during which duties of this position must be performed.
