River Valley Newspaper Group publications include the La Crosse Tribune, Winona Daily News, Holmen Courier, Onalaska Community Life, Tomah Journal & Monitor Herald, West Salem Coulee News, Foxxy Shoppers, Jackson County Chronicle, Vernon County Broadcaster, Westby Times and Houston County News.

Company History

Although the River Valley Newspaper Group was not formed until 2001, its publications have a long-standing history in each community. As a member of the Lee Enterprises, Inc. family we have over 11,000 employees across the country to support and enhance operations at each enterprise.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

La Crosse Tribune named first in state in 2007 for environmental reporting and local columns by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association. Second place in the feature category, investigative reporting and sports photo.
Chris Hardie, publisher of the weekly and shopper division of the River Valley Newspaper Group, was honored by the association as weekly publisher of the year. The Coulee News of West Salem, one of the group’s publications, was named weekly newspaper of the year, and other papers in the group took home numerous news and advertising awards.
And the Minnesota Newspaper named the Winona Daily News first place, general excellence in dailies 8,001 to 25,000 for 2007 as well as first place for best human interest story, all dailies over 11,000. Second place was also taken for best local news story, dailies 8,001 to 25,000; and best community interactive web site, all dailies.
