Company Overview

One of two small family-owned daily newspapers in New York State and one of the ten longest duration in the country. Located in Rome, New York, the heart of New York State, we have a circulation of 13,000 daily and 25,000 for our soft-news, TMC Sunday. We aim to be the indispensable provider of local news and advertising. Rome is within two hours travel to the deepest woods of the Adirondacks and major cities in the northeast.

Company History

Tracing its roots back to the Rome Citizen in 1821, the Sentinel name first appeared in 1848. Our family began working here in 1852 and purchased the newspaper in June, 1864. The newspaper became daily in the 1880s. The current publisher is the fifth generation of the family to serve our community.
